Oogily BOOgily Halloween

HAVE AN OOGILY BOOGILY HALLOWEEN!

I thought I'd put together a Halloween image with my Holiday Oogilies for fun. I wanted the design to be surreal; with a hint of realism and a cartoon edge. I hope it worked - lol I also wanted something that was more hand crafted, which is why I crafted the Oogilies from things that fall from trees such as seed pods, gourds and such. I then photograph them and digitally composite them. The image was done in Photoshop with about 150 layers to control the lighting, composition and shading. The pumpkins are actually lemon gourds that I digitally painted to look like pumpkins. Basically a little of everything traditional and digital was used to create this image. I created a little Depth of Field for good measure to make it more photographic.

I hope you enjoy it!

This is really good! I appreciate the description of how you did it. That's a lot of layering. How long did it take?

Thank you so much. Sorry for the late reply. It's been a crazy season. It took about two days to make the characters and do the digital composite. I'm hoping to find the time to do an Easter piece like this one.
