Contrary Mary
Inspired by the English nursery rhyme Mary, Mary Quite Contrary, I drew this on 100% cotton paper (2.5 x 3.5 inches) with a black marker and then painted using acrylics. http://www.etsy.com/shop/IntricateKnot
Below is her story:
Contrary Mary loved her garden so very much that her last wish was to be buried in it. All fine and good, but Contrary happened to be admired quite secretively, by Quentin the Vampire Botanist. Utilizing his botanical magic, he infused her spirit with the very fertile soil of her garden.
Now amongst the other creatures Quentin’s created Contrary Mary’s ghost sprouts up in various guises and incarnations. Rather annoyed with Quentin for trapping her essence this way, her stems always sprout tiny thorns. No one dare pick her, not even Quentin. Does her spirit ever escape the stems? Not yet.
