HAVE AN OOGILY BOOGILY HALLOWEEN!
I thought I'd put together a Halloween image with my Holiday Oogilies for fun. I wanted the design to be surreal; with a hint of realism and a cartoon edge. I hope it worked - lol I also wanted something that was more hand crafted, which is why I crafted the Oogilies from things that fall from trees such as seed pods, gourds and such. I then photograph them and digitally composite them. The image was done in Photoshop with about 150 layers to control the lighting, composition and shading. The pumpkins are actually lemon gourds that I digitally painted to look like pumpkins. Basically a little of everything traditional and digital was used to create this image. I created a little Depth of Field for good measure to make it more photographic.
I hope you enjoy it!

This is really good! I appreciate the description of how you did it. That's a lot of layering. How long did it take?
Thank you so much. Sorry for the late reply. It's been a crazy season. It took about two days to make the characters and do the digital composite. I'm hoping to find the time to do an Easter piece like this one.

Throughout the early 2000s, Chicago’s garage punk (pop?) servicemen, The Goldstars, bashed out primitive, sharply hooked albums: Gotta Get Out, Purple Girlfriend, and The Race EP. These... The third instalment in Black Nuns’ series of original Halloween rock arrives just in time for the 2026 spooky season. Where Halloween music often settles for creaking doors and stock cackles, these 10 tracks push genre tropes to their outer limits, somewhere stranger and a good deal freakier. Volume 3 is a guitar-driven trip through... Read more »

The music is a lively blend of rockabilly, psychobilly, rock, surf and haunted country vibes, all played with deadly seriousness. The lyrics, however, are anything but serious. Or as the Dudes put it: “Evoken from the paranormally enhanced mind of a werewolf and augmented by sinister contributions from draculas and mummies and stuff, “Dumb Kind... Read more »

Halloween at High Noon annually releases a lo-fi compilation of spooky beats, and it’s something I look forward to every October. 2026’s entry is The Grim Dark, which I’ve been bobbing my head to while I work all afternoon today. An eclectic mix of chill rhythms, creepy samples, sinister sound effects and music that ranges... Read more »
