1. GROUP YOUR WORK INTO ALBUMS! The way your work will be found through potentially hundreds of images is to make them into an album. The core gallery will be the albums section. The homepage will also rotate albums frequently. I know, you've just finished that 1 new masterpiece and your dyin' to show it off, that's alright. The key to being seen & sold is grouping the work.

2. DESCRIBE YOUR WORK WELL! Standard info that should be in your images' "Description" text field: Title, copyright info, original size (height x width), media, price (if any).

3. ADDING CODE TO THE IMAGE DESCRIPTION FOR WEBSITE LINK /BUY NOW BUTTONS. Your image pages can direct customers to your website and sell your work. Here's one method... If you only want your website link (No Paypal button) skip to "D" section...

( A.) Using your Paypal account, prepare your BUY NOW button, copy the "FOR EMAIL" LINK ONLY. Do not use the "html" for websites code. Reason: There's a character limit in the description field. The emails link is way shorter. Copy, save this link (in any text editor like word, or notepad) and set to the side.

B.) Back to your image page, choose "options" button and click "Edit Details". Go to the description field.

C.) First enter your image information (copyright info, size , media, price, etc).

D.) Copy & paste the following code immediately below your description, and edit the code with your website info and Pay Pal email buy now button link.
Note: Do not alter the bottom line, it is the button image location.
If you want only your website link, simply delete the 2 bottom lines.

OK, so this all looks good, and you definately got what it takes. That's great, and we want the best experience for you. THIS IS IMPORTANT IF YOUR SUBMITTING WORK! We do moderate the site to keep the focus on quality, not quantity. Your art is juried & approved by both directors of the HAE before it appears on the site. Our expertise comes from over 30 years combined creating, curating and operating professional businesses in the Halloween Industry. Don't get angry if you're piece isn't immediately accepted. It just means it needs to get closer to the following criteria:
1. Submit art/ work specifically related to Halloween themes in visual, title, or vibe. Gory, Gothic, horror, dark, scary, spooky, movie monsters alone are not enough for submission. Consider the difference between the themes Gothic, spooky, dark, scary and Halloween! There is a difference. Just because your art has a skull, or is spooky, or has a monster, or whatever, doesn't make it Halloween art.

Q. If that's the case, does every piece have to have the standard Halloween icons (witch, pumpkin, owl, etc.) to be accepted?

A. No. As long as you can reasonably justify the content of the work to significantly give off a Halloween "vibe", you'll be Ok.

Q, How do I know for sure? A. Take away the title from your art piece. Would a complete stranger immediately know, feel or say it was definately about Halloween or the holiday of Halloween? If the answer is no or maybe, then don't submit it.Try something else. We do sometimes select exceptions based on the close relationship of the other works.

Present yourself at your best, judge your work intelligably before submitting.

More to come, Best Wishes
This year's poster has an interesting concept and model, namely Deanna "Witchypoo" Morton as Lily Munster sporting a cool Halloween tattoo. She also happens to be staff for the International Association of Haunted Attractions. Does matter attract matter or what? When HAE producer/artist Scott Jackson brought this idea of recreating the TV icon in a contemporary vogue-type art piece, fate brought Mrs. Morton to the call through a brief introduction at Trans World, along with mutual friend Chad Savage who also is the HAE Associate Director. When I saw Deanna in Lily's costume at her Myspace, I immediately called upon HAE artist/ photographer Lilly Prinn to see if we could make this happen. The end result was to say the least, awesome, says Jackson who has been designing the posters from the beginning of the HAE's conception. This is the first time a photograph has been used for the annual venues, and the response has been great. HAE artist/ photographer Lilly Prinn will display more from the original shoot at this years' exhibit. You can get the new poster for a limited time by visiting the HAE Store.

By invitation, the HAE attended The Society of American Magicians meeting on Chicago's Southwest side. This was no ordinary night, as renowned conjurer Andy Dallas showed the pros why he's also the National President. His incredible performances of modern updates to classic illusions hailed a standing ovation from all who attended! The Annual Halloween Art Exhibit was also applauded for welcoming new performers to our expanding exhibition, and offering our posse of talented artists for those magic acts needing help with promotion & advertising. The Society's Chicago Chapter President, Neil Tobin (accomplished necromancer in his own right) joins us in the 2007 edition of the HAE when he performs his own brand of magic on October 20th. These kinds of associations are as inspiring as they are fun to be with, which means we'll be looking more into the magical, clairavoyant and ghost chasing societies to contribute to and collaborate with in the near future.

A 30" x 30" Black Cat 13! print donated by the HAE was well received during the 7pm - 5am paint a-thon/party, the auction held on the following day. It was no surprise that every esoteric person we encountered claimed Halloween as their favorite Holiday.

As more and more Halloween fans visited the show, we realized that our dream of a full scale gallery style exhibit could be accomplished with dedication to quality and creativity.. Many of you have asked, "Why does someone present a Halloween Art Exhibit?" Does it take a desire to express fondness for all things ghoulish and spooky? Or perhaps some repressed fantasy about reclaiming those early childhood years? The answer would be "Yes", but not that simply. To elaborate, we must first understand its creator's background...

Scott Lowell Jackson (Producer/ Publisher/ Graphic Designer/ Illustrator) Started out creating logos and t-shirt designs for local print shops with a flair for the grim and ghastly. As early as 9 years old Mr. Jackson could be found in his neighborhood sporting the Dracula cape his mother made for him long after Halloween was over. Besides art & music, Creature Features, Famous Monsters magazines were major influences. Twenty plus years later, Mr. Jackson has created a multitude of covers & artwork for magazines, comics, books, games, CD's and posters. His artwork has been featured by Kiss, Pink Floyd, Megadeth, The Electric Hellfire Club and many others. Not just the club president, he's also an artist.
